October is the perfect time to read spooky books so I'm sharing the books I've been anticipating to read all year long. Get ready because these picks will keep you on the edge of your seat.
1. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
I cannot rave this book enough. I've gotten my husband, mama in law, and friends to read this and all of them thought that it was such a good read. The plot twist at the end had me gasping and mind-blown.
Short blurb: A therapist follows the mind of a woman who killed her husband. Did she really kill him or not?
2. Home Before Dark by Riley Sager
My husband approves of this book and binged it in a week. If there's anything else creepy about this book, is that the hardcover version glows in the dark! Ah!
Short blurb: A woman was left with her spooky childhood home and finds that it's possesed by more than just memories. Mix the Ouija board for some chills and thrills.
3. The Night Swim by Megan Goldin
This is my favorite audiobook of all time. I thought that the production was creative, suspenseful, and kept me entertained from start to finish. I highly recommend it as it'll keep you guessing.
Short blurb: If you live and breathe true crime, this one is for you. A famous podcaster takes on a small-town cold case and discover its haunting past.
4. The Guest List by Lucy Foley
I read this at the beginning of 2021 and it did not disappoint. The structure was great with lots of different point of views. You'll emphasize with them and in some cases, you'll think, 'Wow... did that just happen?' Add yourself to this wedding's guest list and unravel the hot hot mess!
Short blurb: A wedding mixed with murder is the greatest plot twist. Get in the minds of its guests and take a guess on whodunit.
5. Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
This one is not for the faint of heart. Some part will make you want to close the book and start again when the sun is up. Other times, you'll want to hype yourself because it's just way too creepy to pickup. Do you dare?
Short Blurb: Follow Noemi on her eerily visit to save her cousin from a nightmarish backdrop with a twist of horrors of colonialism.
6. The Shadows by Alex North
Ready to get surprised by a book? Some parts are just downright creepy, but it'll keep you guessing until the very end.
Short blurb: Do you dare to repeat "Bloody Mary" three times in the mirror. This spooky thriller is believers of urban legends and myths.
7. Ghosts of Harvard by Francesca Serritella
